With its stubby but refined bubble shape, Audi’s 2009 TT S Roadster is a modern design classic whose looks are only improved in this latest version. There’s nothing else quite like it on the road.

If you’re looking for a two-seat roadster or a 2+2 coupe, you’re probably looking for some combination of style, comfort and fun. In the TT you’ll find equally lofty levels of the three.

The slinky Audi TTS is a worthy adversary to its established German and Japanese rivals. Especially for those who value style over a usable back seat.

The upgraded 2011 TT is easily one of the best value propositions in the segment, and finally achieves what Audi set out to accomplish when the TT was introduced in 1998. It’s finally a proper entry-level luxury sports car, balancing style, substance and speed.

The refined, fuel-efficient and fun-to-drive 2011 Audi TT 2.0 TFSI Quattro delivers real sports car thrills. A Nissan or Porsche sports car offer more visceral thrills from the driver’s seat. But the more efficient, quieter and refined TT is an underrated back road burner.

The test of a performance car isn’t a skidpad, a quarter mile, the hopelessly trite zero to sixty, or even a lap time. The test is happiness. Do I enjoy the Audi TTS? Is it fun to drive? Do I climb out with a smile on my face? Audi has created one of their best ever performance cars.

The Audi TT is a handsome car, even if it’s missing some of the original TT’s purity, and it’s built exceptionally well.

The 2011 Audi TT gets a minor facelift (LED daytime running lights, front spoiler, diffuser and some nice aluminum trim inside) and a new base engine. It delivers a much sweeter ride with 11 more horsepower while gas mileage improves by 14%.

Audi did what could not be done; they made the TT even hotter and more desirable than previously. With new more powerful engines, hi-tech transmissions and a front fascia to melt the polar ice caps, the TT is reborn.

I recommend that all but the most hard-core drivers go for the Audi TT 3.2 Quattro. But if you live for the curves, the hard core TTS is the only way to go.
