The 621-hp Bentley Continental Supersports sounds wonderfully flatulent and looks slightly scary. At any moment you expect it to unfold into a giant robot and start bench-pressing 747s.

The GTC Speed is a fine vehicle, although one tends to be impressed by it rather than fall in love with it. And at $237,695, it’s a little out of tune with the times.

The Supersports convertible might be the most powerful droptop Bentley ever, but its price and age have both crept up to the point where we can’t help but wonder if the most important thing to know about this Conti is that its replacement is due at this fall.

The Bentley Continental Supersports is not good-looking. It’s not much fun to hustle, it’s big, heavy, vulgar and extremely expensive. If it were possible to do 170mph, then I can think of no car I’d rather be in. But here’s the important bit. It isn’t possible to do 170mph.
