The BMW 3-Series truly does everything well, ranging from legitimately track-worthy performance to gadget-laden luxury cruising. While it isn’t some revolutionary new breed, its uncanny ability to balance everything results in a near-perfect product.

Minor aesthetic foibles aside, the 2012 BMW 328i is a success because its performance and handling remain sublime. It uses as inspiration the best, and the best just happens to be itself.

With the 3 Series, BMW has delivered a sports sedan that delivers value while not skimping on performance, technology, or luxury.

The 2012 BMW 3-Series delivers a raft of welcome improvements and new features without watering down the classic character of this celebrated car. You’ll have to pay for it, but the 2012 3-Series does much to solidify this sporty premium-compact sedan’s benchmark status.

An immensely more practical machine, with improved fuel economy, comfort and features, the newest 3 offers so many more of the qualities buyers actually want and use on a daily basis, while remaining a class-leader in driving enjoyment.

The 335i groups euphoric highs (zinger motor, sweet sequential gearbox, driftwood dash) with inexplicable lows (Auto Stop/Start, lack of paddle shifters, clunky run-flat Goodyear tires). But the highs outweigh the lows, making it the car to beat in the class.

The 328i managed to poke just about all of the right buttons. The combination of handsome looks, good fuel economy, nimble handling and gadgets galore is a siren call for gadget geeks in their 30s. If you value driving enjoyment, a slick nav and a gorgeous HUD, then the 3-Series is for you.

We really like the 2012 BMW 328i as a luxury sedan. It’s very quick, spacious, elegant, fuel-efficient, and if we want to explore some back road, the capability is there.

Expectations run high for the 3 Series because it repeatedly delivers such strong performances. This new 335i continues that trend. It’s capable enough to be compared to sports cars, but compliant and livable enough to be called “just” a luxury sedan.

A classed-up, roomier interior, more power and substantially improved gas mileage breathe new life into the redesigned 2012 BMW 3 Series sedan, which should continue to dominate the sport-sedan market.
