The new 2011 BMW 5-Series really impressed me. Here’s something you will rarely see me write: even at $73,300, this car is worth every single penny based on quality and driving enjoyment.

Graced with lusciously smooth operation, amazing dynamic abilities, an outstanding hi-tech feature-set and the undeniable cachet BMW’s cars justifiably possess, it’s hard to imagine a more desirable car than the 2011 BMW 5 Series.

The BMW 5 Series is dramatically updated and improved for 2011. If you’ve held back because you’ve heard complaints about some of BMWs’ cockpit controls, the waiting is over. The 5 is unquestionably one of the premier performance sedans in the world.

With the new 5 Series, BMW treads the delicate line between not alienating the core buyers and shows the world a brash newness and forward-thinking technology.

With the new 5-series, BMW has found and channeled the authenticity and finesse of earlier cars. Cars that we once called the world’s best-driving sedans.

When it comes to finding fault? My God, you have to be picky in the 535i. So, if you have the wherewithal, I suggest you buy a BMW 5-series. It’s the absolute best of absolutely everything we know.

A steady stream of improvements and innovations, plus an admirable blend of comfort, craftsmanship and performance, has set this midsize BMW apart from the middle-of-the-road cars. The 2013 BMW 5 Series proudly carries on this tradition, although its core message of performance has been obscured by luxury.

How does the new 535i shape up? Does the new electric steering compromise the 5’s legendary steering feel? Does the new double-wishbone front suspension improve this sedan’s relationship with the road? No and yes. In other words, good news all round.

BMW has virtually squared the circle by making its new sixth-generation 5-Series sedan bigger, roomier, better-equipped and more refined than ever before, while further improving its standard-setting dynamics.

The redesigned BMW 5 Series is as sober as a German math professor, but it offers a luxurious feel and performance that was born on the racetrack.

I’ve always seen BMWs as one-trick ponys, but the 550i is the first Bimmer that really can do it all. It’s one of the most impressive luxury cars I’ve driven. If I rated cars with thumbs, I’d grow an extra so I could give it three thumbs up.

I’m still a fan of the 528i. I’m impressed that BMW has given us a fuel economy improvement of around 8% while improving performance and without altering the basic character of the car. If this is the future of fuel economy, bring it on!
