The 2013 BMW 640i Gran Coupe has to be one of the best cars in BMW’s armory. It’s pleasing to look at, endlessly entertaining from behind the wheel and surprisingly devoid of compromises. BMW took its time to perfect the four-door coupe.

Performance tech in the 2013 BMW 640i Gran Coupe lets it be a luxury cruiser and a nimble sports car, while the cabin electronics give drivers unparalleled levels of help and entertainment.

Although the 2013 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is a little late to the coupe-styled luxury sedan market, given its combination of performance and practicality it looks as if it was worth the wait.

The Gran Coupe walks onto the luxury-coupe stage able to act most any part in the play. It has a lovely fluent feel on the road, while offering saloon-like space, ride comfort and a good dose of the grandeur that BMW’s coinage somehow implies.

The 640i Gran Coupe is remarkably agile for such a large package, and it’s a remarkably strong performer. It is an elegant and sporting tool for fun driving.

The BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe is stylish, refined, very luxurious, and engaging to drive. If you have an occasional need to transport more than yourself and one other person, the 6-Series Gran Coupe is a fine way to spend your 401(k) or the kids’ college fund.

The 640i Gran Coupe is a stunning example of how you can take a bunch of off-the-shelf parts, throw caution to the wind, and build a car that’s better than any of the products it’s based on.

We were impressed with its overall style and functionality, while being happy to see much of the 6-Series grand touring oriented handling characteristics were maintained in this category-defining grand tourer.

If style matters (and price doesn’t), the Gran Coupe is an easy choice. Yeah, it’s another great driving BMW. The electric power steering is too numb to qualify as BMW’s best, but there’s still plenty of entertainment at the driver’s fingertips.

The four-door BMW 6 Series is a beautiful car for sure. We’re hopeless plebeians, though, so we advise waiting until BMW puts more engine in this car and retunes the chassis underneath it to make it feel as good as it looks.

Without a doubt, the Gran Coupe is a striking, sexy “coupe.” But I, unlike the competition, just wish it cost less.

With enough gadgets to keep Bill Gates happy and an interior that is as perfect as anything this side of Aston Martin, the 650i may just be the ultimate luxury GT.
