The 2011 Cadillac Escalade Platinum Hybrid is a three-ton, rollin’-on-22s, chrome-drenched, hybrid-electric, $88,140 luxury truck. It’s extreme enough that it must be absolutely perfect for the correct users, but who are they?

The 2011 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid is mostly very nice, but still a little rough around the edges. I drove the Escalade as I would any other vehicle — and found mixed results.

Bottom line: If you must drive a full-size luxury SUV, the $76,000 (base) Cadillac Escalade Hybrid gives you some cover with your environmentally oriented friends.

The Escalade Hybrid feels just like the regular Escalade, but still, it feels better.It’s also just a little obscene which makes it so good and bad at the same time and American to its core. It’s easily the Cadillac of Cadillacs.

Whether it’s from a practical standpoint or simple financial considerations, the 2012 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid doesn’t make much sense.
