The 200 delivers a bigger trunk than many mid-size sedans, more rear legroom than Mustang, better visibility than Camaro and better “everythings” than an Eclipse. You don’t have to pretend you’re just renting a summer car anymore.

The Chrysler 200 will attract buyers who would not have considered its Sebring predecessor. It has a sleeker, sportier, richer look, and interior materials are among the best in the class.

The 2011 Chrysler 200 Limited is more than an evolved Sebring, it’s a genuinely solid sedan. It easily competes with any midsize sedan in the segment — especially figuring price into the equation.

The 2012 Chrysler 200 convertible is a good, spacious choice among midsize drop tops. Its cabin and trunk are enormous, and it packs in a lot of features for the money. You may not have too many choices among convertibles, but at least the 200 is a good one.

While the 200 might borrow some of its design from the oft-panned Sebring, Chrysler has made enough changes to this midsize duo where they might as well be all-new cars. The 200, at least with the available V6 engine, is powerful, smooth, and refined.

The Chrysler 200 is not perfect – far from it – but to take the Sebring, give it a new [Pentastar] heart, a new interior, and some refined sheetmetal and turn it into a reasonably respectable car is quite an accomplishment.

Like the Sebring, the 200 is a a midsize, front-drive sedan, with the same basic floorpan, wheelbase and “chassis hardpoints.” But it’s hard to find a part that hasn’t been reconsidered, retooled and improved.

The 200 is eons better than the Sebring it replaces, even if it hasn’t yet moved to the head of the class. It might not win enthusiast’s hearts, but it will ably perform most duties asked of mid-size cars, hanging with its rivals in most areas.

While the 200’s cabin and the new Pentastar V6 are competitive, those are easily its best attributes. When it comes to looks, refinement and especially reputation, it still isn’t near the top of the mid-size food chain.

The Chrysler 200 Convertible isn’t a race car, a musclecar, or a sports car. It’s casual cruiser, a car for long, easy drives with the wind in your hair. And when you treat it accordingly, it’s a willing and able companion and oh so much better than the car it replaces.
