The verdict on the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392: On the one-dimensional side, well-built, engine absolutely top notch. Would make a good real-world daily driver. King of the Smoky Burnouts.

There isn’t a single car on the market today that ticks all the muscle car boxes the way this Challenger does. From its looks to its new engine to the sound of the big Hemi exhaling, the Challenger SRT8 392 screams throwback Americana in a way the Mustang and Camaro just can’t match.

While Camaro and Mustang may still not have much to worry about, the 2011 Dodge Challenger has certainly become a more serious challenger. Its styling is definitely a winner in our book, and improved performance is always a plus.

Guiding a Dodge Challenger SRT8 around a racing circuit might seem like the ultimate automotive fish-out-of-water experience, but the big coupe’s poise on the racetrack is one of the more surprising qualities.

What we have here with the 2011 Dodge Challenger is a modern-day muscle car that, when it hits showrooms early next year, should finally be able to walk tall with the Camaro and Mustang…any time, on any road.

The newest big-dog Challenger SRT8 392 feels like a rocket sled. And we’d like to tip our hats to Dodge for keeping her naturally aspirated, proving once again that there’s no replacement for displacement.

The Dodge Challenger SRT8 392’s power still lives largest closer to the top end, but there’s more excitement in the midrange than ever before. And now the steering feels much more natural and lively with a quicker turn-in.

Overall, I’m really pleased with the changes Chrysler has made to the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8. The bland interior and indifferent handling were the two biggest reasons not to buy one, and now those reasons are gone. Go, Mopar, go!
