The 2010 Ford SVT F-150 Raptor tackles both asphalt and desert sands so masterfully that it is instantly deserving of supercar status. The Raptor’s victories in design, safety, navitainment and ergonomics mean that it isn’t just a great truck — it’s a great vehicle.

For just about $2500 more than a similarly equipped, regular F-150, the Raptor is, in context, a raging bargain. No other current production truck comes close to looking as good as the Raptor. Period.

The 2011 Ford F-150 Raptor is a far more satisfying machine with this new engine, and easily the most entertaining product you can be in when the pavement ends.

Ford’s F150 Raptor is the superhero of trucks. This beast is an adventure to drive – even when commuting. So what if it takes up an entire traffic lane?

There are no formal benchmarks for the Ford F-150 Raptor; this is way beyond Rovers, Hummers, and Unimogs. In its element, it gobbles up rough terrain like a Ferrari tackling a chicane.

Unless you’re a died-in-the-burlap save-the-planet kind of person, you probably think the 2010 Ford SVT Raptor 6.2 is freakin’ cool. There’s not a factory truck on the planet that can wing across the desert floor with equal ease, grace and unmitigated speed.

Compared with the base Raptor, the 6.2-liter version is a better balanced package of power and refinement on and off the pavement. There’s no doubt that the 6.2-liter V-8 gives it the extra capability it’s been demanding. It’s an incredibly good deal for only an extra $3,000.

The Ford F-150 Raptor is the Porsche 911 GT3 of pickup trucks. The 6.2 engine is a $3000 option. Worth the money? You betcha.

The Ford F-150 Raptor sacrifices little if any half-ton truck capability (900-pound payload, 6000-pound towing). And it appears to be just as happy slinging mud as it is blurring cacti.

The brand-new, 6.2-liter SOHC V-8 is finally ready, and the SVT guys have had a chance to massage it for Raptor duty. The “six-two” is a $3000 option on top of the Raptor’s $38,995 base price, but this truck deserves nothing less.
