As with most hybrids, it’s not the perfect be-all end-all to a high mileage cruiser. While not perfect in its own right, the Honda Insight is the perfect alternative to those who reside in the Prius nation.

Honda’s goal in designing the 2010 Insight was to find the value sweet spot, and it looks like they’ve hit it. The Insight marks the best intersection yet of the plots for price, efficiency and practicality.

The 2012 Honda Insight has some things in its favor. One is its low price tag. Another is its performance at the gas pump. This Honda’s primary weakness concerns ride comfort.

the 2010 Honda Insight is the most affordable hybrid to date, and while it may not be the ultimate hybrid car,it will make this technology much more accessible, and that will have both buyers and Honda seeing a lot more green.

The Honda Insight demonstrates that hybrids have truly come of age. The sensible price and functional, well-built interior is pitched at the consumer in the market for economical, trouble-free motoring with just a slight whiff of techno-futurism.

Dynamically, no one’s going to carve up a race course with the little darling, so the Honda Insight’s handling, braking, steering feel are all just fine given the car’s mission. Quite good, in fact.

While I do have a few criticisms, I must tell you that the Honda Insight is a nice hybrid with an affordable price tag. Those who have bought one like it for the same reasons that I do: fuel economy and value.

While fuel-efficient and reliable, the 2011 Honda Insight doesn’t measure up to its archrival, the Toyota Prius.

The Insight starts at $19,800, which is $1,200 less than the Prius’ starting price. Honestly though, $1,200 doesn’t seem like enough of a price cut to give up the extra 10 mpg plus all of the added features you won’t find in the Insight.
