The new Honda Insight is coming to our market touted as the cheapest hybrid in America. Add to that a real attempt at driving pizazz, comfortable accommodations and a nice list of standard features (including an iPod, MP3, USB port).

The 2010 Honda Insight’s target customers may be Gen Y and, secondarily, active empty nesters. But I’d say this new Insight is a rational approach for anyone desiring hybrid motoring.

Can the Insight topple their rival’s king of green? Oh, yes. Honda needed to make the Insight less expensive, more comfortable and more powerful than the Prius, and it seems they have succeeded.

The low cost, the flexibility, the mileage, and the fun combines to make the Insight especially appealing to buyers for whom hybrids have been out of reach.

The Honda Insight deserves maximum attention from hybrid buyers – or anyone interested in saving resources – because it offers so much automobile in addition to its remarkable fuel economy.

Insight or Prius? I err on the side of Honda’s hybrid, mostly as a personal thing — I just liked the way the car felt and drove, and I thought its design was better looking.

The 2010 Honda Insight is the most affordable hybrid around, and that’s a difference that will catch a lot of people’s attention who once aspired for that other hybrid.

The new 2010 Honda Insight is a bargain hybrid. It’s not as roomy or sumptuous as the Civic Hybrid, the Toyota Prius, or the new Ford Fusion Hybrid, but it costs less.

The Insight feels more mainstream than the curio Prius, it will be affordable and it will help get green virgins into an eco car. That’s why the Insight is one of this year’s most crucial cars.

If and when gas prices go back up, the Insight’s combination of a low sticker price and good, if not exceptional, mileage could make it the right investment.

The Honda Insight is way more entertaining to drive than the Toyota Prius, but it’s not as practical nor as fuel-efficient.
