Honda and Toyota’s completely redesigned minivans leave their competition all but wallowing in a trail of spilled Cheerios. The Sienna is sleekly styled, modern and sporty, but the Odyssey’s approach – familiar, family-friendly and fuel efficient – seems to have earned the edge.

Honda’s stylists might have displeased more conservative customers with the new Odyssey’s rakish exterior. But its interior ergonomics are the best of any minivan available in the U.S. market, and the new Odyssey is fun to drive!

The 2011 Honda Odyssey represents the minivan, nearly perfected. Value is where the Honda is a bit challenged. Warranty coverage is pretty basic, and does not include free scheduled maintenance

The Honda Odyssey seats eight, has a vast cargo capacity, passenger legroom, and is chock full of storage places and good ideas for convenience. Its crash ratings are the best for any minivan. The handling and ride are sweet.

Despite some nit-picking, I still feel that Honda’s execution, and near mastery of the minivan genre brings the Odyssey to the head of its class.
