The Infiniti IPL G Coupe does what it sets out to do: improve over the performance of the standard G37 Coupe. Unfortunately, Infiniti’s first foray into high-performance variants was more of hesitant testing of the waters with a toe than a full-blown cannonball.

Most of us want a car that is comfortable to drive and fun in the real world, and the IPL manual delivers about as well as any car in this price range. Most of us also want a car that looks and feels special. The Infiniti G may align well with your interests.

Infiniti’s G37 Coupe offers a great mix of performance, comfort and handling. We’ll include value in that mix as well.

The IPL version would be more special if the G37 Sport weren’t already so aggressive. But that car’s firm suspension, hefty steering, firm clutch, meaty short-throw shifter, and strong V-6 already make the G37 one of the sportiest car in its segment.

The G37x coupe is a friend. It invites you along for the ride. It has one of the most attractive and ergonomically sensible interiors and infotainment control panels of any car in its class.

If you plan on carrying 2, or 2+2, love to drive aggressively and fast, and dislike the boy racer look of the 370Z, then the Infiniti G37 Sport Coupe is just right. It is relatively affordable, returns decent fuel mileage, and goes like stink.

The IPL G Coupe is a business person’s express, ideal for someone who does a lot of driving and welcomes the challenge of attacking the open road. If you’re after a grown-up’s hot rod, the IPL G is the Coupe for you.

Sport-focused, intelligently designed and attractively priced, the 2012 Infiniti G Coupe is an excellent choice for a luxury sport coupe.

With its V-6 engine, all-wheel drive, and sinewy looks, the 2011 Infiniti G37x coupe will make you the envy of the carpool lane, until the other parents see the effort it takes to get younger kids in and out of the backseat.

The Infiniti IPL G Coupe brings a fresh attitude to the luxury performance coupe segment. It’s brash, capable, and unapologetically rough around the edges. We don’t really see the point, but we had fun driving it anyway.

The IPL G Coupe feels like what you’d expect: a slightly hotter and very well-rounded Infiniti G37. The ride is a little firmer, but not harsh. Turn-in is precise but not darty.

Ihe IPL G Coupe feels much like Goldilocks’ choice of porridge-not too hot, not too cold. Compared to the regular Infiniti G37 S, the IPL-tuned coupe feels a little less rough. Power gains feel more impressive than they likely are.
