Technology in itself is not the secret to a great performance car. It still comes down to power, cornering ability, styling and a comfortable interior. The 2011 Infiniti M offers all of the above plus the latest devices to make driving safer and more fun.

Infiniti is taking a bigger swing at its German competitors. The original M had most of the performance but none of the panache required to woo the faithful out of their Teutonic sedans. The M, especially in its 37X guise, is a far more concerted effort.

The Infiniti M’s seating, interior layout and level of luxury is on par with the rest of the luxury sedan party.

At the end of the day while I applaud Infiniti for creating a car that gives the major players a run for their money, the styling is enough for me to say “no thanks.” But at least half of the people I ran into love the style, if the looks of the M56x work for you, you can’t go wrong by putting one in your garage.

The 2011 M37 is much improved over the model it replaces, particularly with a loaded non-sport model like our M37 tester. The Infiniti has plenty to offer. And with an as-tested price of almost $60,000, it had better.

Infiniti’s M56x illustrates how technology should be put to use in everyday life; abundant and ever-present, but imperceptible and noninvasive. The M56x offers power, luxury, and technology in ways that you didn’t know you needed, but once you experience them, you won’t want to live without them.

The 2011 Infiniti M37 and M56 are terrific luxury sport sedans, the best Japan has to offer.

The Infiniti M is practical and its handling is great. Features are generous on comfort and luxury items, and the interior is worthy of vehicles much more expensive than the M56.

Infiniti’s M sedan offers buyers of large, executive sedans a good alternative to the usual German suspects.
