The Land Rover LR4 has completely won me over as my favorite do-it-all vehicle: tough yet refined, powerful yet smooth, large enough to transport seven adults, yet nimble on its feet – er wheels.

In the new LR4, Land Rover focused on the aspects of the SUV that needed improvement, like the cabin and acceleration performance, while retaining that signature go-anywhere capability — which promises to become increasingly unique in this class.

The Land Rover feels, drives and rides every bit like a luxury vehicle, even if it guzzles gasoline at an alarming rate. We’d gladly add an LR4 to our dream garage.

The LR4 occupies a strange place in the segment, and we can’t help but be charmed by its quirky, British nature, the lovely interior materials and the cloud-like ride quality.

There are few SUVs on the market that can match the LR4’s capabilities and comfort. Whether that’s worth the price of admission depends entirely on your budget and perspective.

Underneath its luxurious exterior, the 2011 LR4 is a rugged workhorse and driving this SUV was mostly effortless. It’s the epitome of luxury; however, it’s not without its faults.

In a typical TV high school, the 2011 Land Rover LR4 would be the dumb jock. It’s absolutely massive, as strong as an ox, and immensely capable in its element. However, where cabin tech is concerned, it’s not what you’d call intelligent.

The 2011 Land Rover LR4 shares enough virtues with the Range Rover to make it worthy of the family name. Both enjoy the same 375hp, all aluminum V8, two-speed electronic transfer gearbox for sublimely competent off road abilities, and airy cabin space.
