We can give the new Mazda2 only one “zoom” for its agile ride, steering and handling. There’s no second “zoom” to be found under the hood.

As far as the driver goes, until there’s a more powerful Mazdaspeed2 version, we can give this new car only one “zoom” for its agile ride, steering and handling. There’s no second “zoom” to be found under the hood.

The 2, rides better, is more refined, and is more fun to drive than the competition. Combine these virtues with reasonable pricing, and you have a subcompact car that stands out.

The 2011 Mazda 2 is an affordable option for younger people in college or a first job, and also could be an ideal second or third car for families with several driving-age members. It’s fully up to the demands of interstate driving but would do its best service as a suburban runabout.

The Mazda 2 is a comfortable car to drive and ride in, and the exterior design works well. However, the four-speed automatic transmission could disappoint you.

The ’11 Mazda2 combines the auto maker’s signature “zoom-zoom” performance philosophy with frugality, and that’s a matchup that could have strong appeal for many B-car buyers.

The Mazda2 proves the adage: Good things come in small packages.
Before driving this five-door five-seater, I thought the most fun I would have was counting the pennies I’d be saving at the pump. What I found instead was a car with enough pep to keep me interested.

While it appears that The Mazda would be our choice over the Fiesta, we’ll have plenty of opportunities to compare them, and to pit the Mazda2 against the likes of the Nissan Versa (advantage: Mazda), Toyota Yaris (advantage: Mazda), and the Honda Fit (too close to call, yet).

The Mazda 2 is a cheeky little hatchback that offers sharp handling, good fuel economy and very attractive looks, but its performance and interior refinement could stand improvement.

The Mazda 2 is sure footed, its steering feedback immediate, directional changes accomplished without protest. Budding sports car drivers will find this Mazda to be a zoomy antidote to the family sedan doldrums.

The 2’s eagerness to champion the driving experience above all else distinguishes the Mazda in a segment that tends to emphasize thrift at all costs.
