With the Lancer Ralliart Sportback, Mitsubishi seems to have found its mojo once again. Offering a quick, stylish, and fun to drive sedan/hatchback, at a cheaper price than the Lancer Evolution is a masterstroke that will definitely bring buyers back to the brand.

The all-wheel-drive Lancer Sportback Ralliart grips the road better than the Volkswagen GTI and doesn’t suffer the torque-steer problems of the Mazdaspeed3, although it’s significantly more expensive than either.

The Lancer ES’s unique styling make it stand out from the crowd of near-identical small cars on the market. If you’re shopping for a compact sedan and want something a little different, I would highly recommend giving the Mitsubishi Lancer a test drive.

Its shocking $33,000 as-tested price is enough to ensure that the Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart, like its Evo brother, will be one rare car. We’ll call it a classic in the making.
