If you want to have some fun behind the wheel of a good compact— avoid the Mitsubishi Lancer GTS. It may look nice from afar, but it’s far from nice.

At $24,098, most should find the Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback a good value in a well-equipped and versatile little car with a focus on sporty driving manners.

With the Lancer Ralliart Sportback, Mitsubishi seems to have found its mojo once again. Offering a quick, stylish, and fun to drive sedan/hatchback, at a cheaper price than the Lancer Evolution is a masterstroke that will definitely bring buyers back to the brand.

The all-wheel-drive Lancer Sportback Ralliart grips the road better than the Volkswagen GTI and doesn’t suffer the torque-steer problems of the Mazdaspeed3, although it’s significantly more expensive than either.

The Lancer ES’s unique styling make it stand out from the crowd of near-identical small cars on the market. If you’re shopping for a compact sedan and want something a little different, I would highly recommend giving the Mitsubishi Lancer a test drive.

Its shocking $33,000 as-tested price is enough to ensure that the Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart, like its Evo brother, will be one rare car. We’ll call it a classic in the making.

The 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback is bigger and about 200 pounds heavier than the comparable WRX but is a sharper stick for jabbing at your favorite roads.

The 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart includes some impressive driving gear and cabin tech, but it is a mixed bag of tricks, with some features ranging into the mediocre.

While certainly not a bad car, the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart is a compromised vehicle. In strict terms of the competition, I like it more than the twitchy MazdaSpeed3 but less than a Subaru WRX.

At a great price, the Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback features turbocharged, all-wheel drive excitement in a stylish package which is still useful on a daily basis.
