New lines, more room and a stronger and more efficient engine make the 2013 Porsche Boxster one of the best sports cars in production.

The luxurious morphing of the 2013 Porsche Boxster has not diminished our enthusiasm for its driving performance one bit. It is everything that it was, and more, and everything you expect in a Porsche. While no car is perfect, in the vaunted world of sports cars, the Boxster is astonishingly close.

The Boxster impresses as the rare great car at a price accessible by many. It finally feels like Porsche didn’t hold back its engineering or design geniuses to protect the big brother 911.

The Boxster S’ steering and handling are absolutely impeccable. The svelte look of the past gives way to a more muscular appearance. Inside, the new Boxster has an upscale feel.

The new 2013 Porsche Boxster is an absolutely terrific car to drive. I liked driving this car a great deal. Which leads to my biggest issue, and one that likely won’t get resolved: I think there should be a cheaper version.

If you’ve admired the Boxster in the past, you have no reason to stop now. Improved in all regards and sporting a near-perfect new look, the baby Porsche remains the one to beat for the segment. The real beauty of this car lies in its impeccable performance-minded driving manners.

The 2013 Boxster S is better in nearly every measurable way. Given a lineage that has helped define the modern sports car, this isn’t a shock. Clearly the people at Porsche know it too. And they’re going to make you pay for it.

The 2013 Boxster is a far classier package than ever before, with the refined details that a luxury buyer would hope to get in a far less competent driving machine. You’re going to find any excuse possible to keep on driving.

There is no denying this Boxster is faster, handles better, and even offers better fuel economy than the previous car. Is it a better car? Absolutely. Is it a better Porsche? Without question.

For some, only a 911 cabriolet would be enough, but, for most of us — and for almost half the price — the new Boxster is a damn good substitute. The Boxster is still a very connected, very visceral drive, no matter what all the improvements to ride quality and refinement might lead you to expect.

The Boxster got a Vogue-worthy makeover, and now it looks like a miniature version of Porsche’s defunct supercar, the Carrera GT. The old-school manual made me happy, a perfect companion to the light, fast car.

The all-new 2013 Boxster is lighter, stiffer, more responsive and more refined, both inside and out, than the model it replaces. Exemplary handling is present and accounted for in the newest version, which even manages to deliver a more composed ride when the pace turns leisurely.
