With great fuel economy and an impressively low price, the Scion iQ heralds a new generation of micro cars that don’t make you sacrifice performance and features for space.

The iQ is a better car than it seems. At the very least it’s a fiendishly clever little package, clearly the fruit of many long nights at the drawing board, and all in all it’s a surprisingly livable car.

The sheer entertainment value of the iQ and its clever packaging is exactly why it works and why I consider it a sort of guilty pleasure. It’s pleasant to drive, comfortable, attractive and relatively efficient.

The Scion iQ is brilliant to drive. It’s also really nice to look at. We look forward to spending more time with it, but our initial impressions make it clear: when it comes to iQ versus Smart, there’s only one smart choice.

The 2012 Scion iQ isn’t a stripped-down car, only a small one. It gives you all that you want in terms of style and entertainment, yet no more than you need in size and speed.

The iQ’s appeal is to a relatively small niche of young urban sophisticates who will value its extremely small dimensions, fashion-forward sensibilities, content-rich features list and easy personalization.

If you could design a microcar to behave like a real car, then you’d have a Scion iQ. It proves that microcars do not have to be slow, demeaning or impractical.

The iQ is very nearly brilliant in its concept and execution. This is a city car. Tailoring size and features to this standard can yield outstanding maneuverability, excellent ease of parking, and driving dynamics that match the cut and thrust of urban motoring.

Well, the 2012 Scion iQ, though tiny in size, may just well be the next big thing in city commuting. The tiny shell surprised us with “real-car” comfort for front seaters. But, you do have to chose whether you want to haul people or cargo.

If you’re looking for a tiny city car that won’t get you beat up or laughed at, the Scion IQ is one of the better choices out there.

Designed to blend into densely populated cityscapes, the iQ does everything small, but in a big way. We’re pleased to report the latest addition to the Scion family fulfills its city duties to a tee.

For those who buy their cars “by the pound,” the iQ is not a good deal. For those who want easy maneuverability in a shape that you won’t see very often, it might be more worth its asking price.
