If you’re looking for a crossover that’s not as boring as a 60 Minutes anchor reunion, the Subaru Forrester should be right at the top of your list. It’s fairly economical, has more than ample power and plenty of storage space and versatility.

The Subaru Forester offers foul weather capability with its all-wheel-drive system and it excels on unpaved roads and in other less-than-perfect driving conditions. Forester is stable and rugged off road, while there are no harsh spots to the highway ride.

If you can look past the outside and take the Forester’s abilities as your primary consideration, you’re exactly the sort of person Subaru is trying to reach.

I didn’t expect much of the Subaru Forester. At first glance, there’s not much that catches your eye. But then I drove it, and the little crossover or tall wagon or whatever you wanna call it, really began to impress.

We assure Subaru loyalists that the Forester remains to have the turbo power to make consumers satisfied with its AWD performance. Hopefully the audio and 4-speed system will rev up for the 2011 models.

The Subaru Forester is reliable, tough, practical and affordable. But it lacks attitude. It lacks fun. It lacks personality that a car or truck should have.

The 2010 Subaru Forester retains the strong taste of vanilla in terms of exterior and interior styling. The same holds true for road performance — perfectly competent for dry highway runs, accelerates well when necessary and handles well in high-speed highway traffic.

Despite the Forester’s diminutive size and its classification as a “crossover,” there is no mistaking it as an SUV. For a cool $20,295 for the basic model, you can put a weekend hauler in your driveway that will get you, your 4 dirty friends, and your tent to and from the Bonnaroo festival with ease.

A very drivable and capable-feeling car, the 2010 Subaru Forester 2.5XT Limited’s cabin tech options offer just the minimum of modern automotive convenience.

Though I had lots of fun driving the 2010 Subaru Forester, the problems started when I loaded my family into it for a six-hour road trip.
