The Subaru Impreza is solid, safe, and simple, with the added attraction of all-wheel drive, so it’s ready for any road driving condition. It packs in a lot, for its size and price.

Subaru’s Impreza upholds the most rudimentary tenets of A-to-B transportation: capability, comfort and utility. I suspect that months or even years after buying one, the car’s workhorse qualities will make many drivers glad they chose it.

While the 2010 Subaru Impreza 2.5i Premium does have a few shortcomings, I found it to be a nice, predictable driver. Factor in standard the AWD and you have a well-equipped vehicle.

I’m still astounded that young thrill-seeking drivers don’t consider this Subaru Impreza an option. It gives a lot of bang for much less buck than it deserves.

There’s no question the Impreza 2.5GT hatchback is good at what it does: It’s a fun-to-drive car that also offers a lot of utility in a small package.
