While the MKT’s styling is perhaps in the eye of the beholder, there’s no question it is one dramatic vehicle. But decent brakes should be there to match the big Lincoln’s impressive power.

The the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid is yet another reason to avoid the Lexus HS 250h, it’s closest competitor. With a lower price; combined mileage that’s 4 mpg higher; the ability to operate in EV mode up to 47 mph; plus attractive design and some genuine classiness.

The Fit’s EV version provides is another flash of masterful engineering. The Fit has always had knife-sharp handling; now, with an electric drivetrain, the car’s “throttle” response is just as immediate and precise.

The new Volkswagen GTI is worth hollering about. It feels just, plain, fast. The whole car seems meticulously calibrated to deliver the goods when you really need them.

If you’re getting the idea that I’m really impressed with the Toyota Sienna, you’re right. The often neglected minivan category definitely has a new standard bearer.

The 2013 GS F Sport is a large Lexus sedan claiming to burn up backroads like a 5 Series BMW. It does a remarkably good job of it.

The ActiveHybrid 5 is an extraordinary technical feat, an authentic attempt to do good, and all in all, a wonderful car. Its driving experience absolutely is worthy of the marque’s performance heritage.

The 2010 Prius definitively retains its crown as king of the hybrids. It’s a profoundly impressive car, perhaps the densest concentration of engineering virtuosity on the road.
