The Z4 isn’t a family car. However, I loved every minute of driving this indulgent little creature from BMW.

The 2010 Volkswagen Jetta TDI is truly was a wonderful environment to be in. Add to that speed great gas mileage, great steering and responsive braking, and this wagon wound up knocking our socks off.

The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid gives me the features I like the most and wraps them up in a sharp, fuel-efficient whole. This car is awesome.

The Land Rover LR4 is stately and civilized like a well-dressed London businessman, but it also has the functionality and flexibility of said businessman in a pair of wellies.

This distinctive hatchback was compared to a breadbox, a mailbox and other boxes— but people, I loved the 2009 Scion Xb. I loved its design, shape, and funky style.

Even though it’s fuel-efficient and has clean emissions, the Mercedes ML320 Bluetec is still a luxury vehicle. She’d spare nothing to prove it.

After spending a week test-driving it, I think I’ve found its place in a mom’s life: The Lexus IS 250 is the car you get once you become an empty-nester.

Several dudes I know claim the 2009 Toyota RAV4 is a “chick car”. That’s too bad for them, because the RAV4 is moderately fun and very flexible small SUV.

The Corolla’s not going to get you from the membership warehouse to hockey practice. But it’s a great car if you don’t frequent Costco and your kids are in dance and soccer.

The Lexus HS 250h is an attractive small sedan that looks sporty and isn’t as blatantly hybrid-y as its Prius cousin. Even though it’s not designed to achieve racecar speeds, it was nimble enough for this mom and kept pace with the traffic around me.

The Subaru Outback is a fun car to drive on city streets, the highway and even mountain passes. It’s undergone a redesign that’s full of positive changes, but there’s one change I’m not crazy about — the exterior.

The XC70 oozes reassurance with its Volvo-ness and the latest safety gadgets. It also wraps that safety up in a very comfortable, accommodating wagon.
