The C-Class Coupe trends toward classic luxury with a bit of bite, creating a niche of its own that we foresee being a strong selling point. We’re fans of the new coupe design, and even more so of the new engines.

The CLS550 blends all the best bits of what Mercedes has to offer: a plethora of safety systems, brilliant drive dynamics and luxurious standard features. It also happens to be stunningly well designed and fairly fuel efficient too.

We’d have a hard time convincing you why not to buy the ML63 AMG, as long as you’re in the market for an SUV with a bit of a price tag. It transitions so brilliantly from sporty road gymnastics to normal, everyday driving that we’re convinced Mercedes has somehow blended chameleon genes with those of a car.

The Range Rover HSE represents a brilliant combination of utilitarian pragmatism and opulent luxury. The combination of modern technology with tireless capability represents Land Rover doing what it does best.

Toyota has improved an already successful car. Its pièce de résistance are the fuel economy numbers, which have hit the magic 50 mpg mark. Now all the Prius needs is a set of solar panels. Oh wait, it has those too!

In every way, the Mercedes CLS63 AMG a better car than the previous generation, with additions to comfort, ride dynamics and efficiency clearly apparent, and styling – inside and out – is less polarizing than others out there (we’re looking at you, Porsche).

The GS 350’s interior styling is fantastic, and technology is integrated brilliantly within the interior. But the catch is whether the Lexus offers enough improved performance to convince buyers not to go for the Mercedes or BMW. The jury’s still out on that one.

All the cars in this segment have their specialties, and the A7’s killer looks yet IKEA-like pricing are the elements which give it an edge. You can’t fault it for taking on the competition head on, especially when you take a look at the result.

Mercedes-Benz delivered an E-Class convertible that performs well, but is, most importantly, comfortable to cruise in. The cabriolet has its faults though.

The Mazda 2’s strong performance, exterior styling and smart pricing make it stand out from the pack.

It’s no bare-bones sports car – you’ll get that type of performance elsewhere – but the SLK350 is focused on providing more luxury and comfort than most in the segment. It’s smartly priced against its direct competitors too.

With more space throughout the cabin and more visibility for all occupants, the Countryman does much to persuade you that it’s the better choice for the more urbane Mini buyer.
