If there were one sports car we could have in our own garage this year–at any price–it would be a green Cayman R.

This innovative three-door coupe now has the power to back up its aggressive styling. With a base price under $23,000 and 38-mpg highway, the Veloster Turbo makes a compelling package.

The M may have had some of its edginess polished away. But these sedans are easily the most comfortable and luxurious cars Infiniti has ever produced. The finely tuned blend of sportiness and luxury in these new M sedans could steal quite a bit of business from Infiniti’s German rivals.

It’s simply smoother, easier, and less fussy to drive very quickly. In short, all the 911’s rough edges have been buffed clean off.

In the ML63 AMG, the fun starts as soon as the road opens up. As is expected from a nearly $100,000 Mercedes-Benz, it arrives in showrooms with a long list of standard features.

After spending an afternoon in the Dart, it’s clear Dodge has a driver’s car in this segment once again. The Dart is a solid competitor against a field of manufacturers that have been perfecting the compact breed for decades.

The Camaro Convertible retains the performance of the now-class-leading Camaro coupe. Its moves are nearly as crisp through canyon roads, too. And starting around $30,000, it’s not a bad deal.

The Fit EV proves that there is room for a fun-to-drive electric vehicle that doesn’t cost as much as a Mercedes-Benz S-Class. And its range of 82 miles and 118 mpge fuel economy beats its competitors.

The new Altima remains one of the most engaging family sedans, and now its fuel economy approaches 40 mpg on the highway. At that level, Nissan should have no problem attracting the most frugal family-sedan buyers.

The new Sonata looks upscale, like a cross between a Mercedes-Benz CLS and a Lexus ES 350. But more importantly, it’s roomy, powerful and returns better EPA fuel-economy numbers than most midsize sedans in the class.
