Eighty thousand bucks is plenty to pay for any mid-sized sedan, even one with 510 horsepower. But against against the $85,700 M5 and the $85,750 E63, the XFR looks like, well, a bargain. And a beautiful one at that.

Dodge Challengers are quicker, faster, and thirstier than anybody really needs, but that’s beside the point. They’re cars that inspire passion, and passion and common sense rarely walk hand in hand.

If I did hail from Texas, or work in the construction biz or some national park, or if I did have eight or so tons of trailer to tow, I’d be hard-pressed to a nicer place than the Dodge Ram Mega Cab from which to watch the miles roll by.

The Range Rover Sport has been thoroughly revised for 2010. inside and out. It’s monstrously good, but thirsty. But if you can swallow the sticker price, filling it up is the easy part.

It’s weight may be the enemy on the racetrack, but it’s a very fine friend on the Interstate. The BMW 550i GT is an absolute dream at (and well above) highway speeds: supremely quiet and never less than utterly composed.

There’s quite a lot of car here for 18 grand. It’s not the most timely or the most timeless design, but it’s well-equipped and feels well-made. I’m sure it’d be a fine runabout — spacious and reasonably safe and, um, high-styled — for somebody.

The slick new Toyota Sienna has (exterior) style on its side, and the Odyssey can’t touch its impressive level of techno-grooviness. So, yes, the minivan lives. Quite well, in fact.
