For any amount of money, a Ferrari 458 is the supercar to have.

2011
Mercedes-Benz SLS-Class AMG
Coupe |
The SLS is a full-crank supercar, the first Mercedes to be entirely designed and built by their racing arm, AMG. It shares the SL moniker of the classic two-seat luxury convertible, and its form pays tribute to the famous 300SL gullwing coupes that raced in the 1950s.

2012
Bentley Continental GT/GTC
Coupe |
Like any classic luxury good, the 2012 Bentley Continental GT is very much as it arrived in 2003: a beautiful two-plus-two coupe with the most brutal, beat-it-up-in-your-face motor money can buy.

Audi S4
Sedan |
The Audi S4 is so brilliant at keeping its poise and packing a big punch in nearly every situation, whether it’s slinging through a tight highway onramp or putting quietly in traffic. It is both wildly entertaining and comfortable as a daily driver.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Sedan |
The Mercedes Benz S550 makes a terrific compromise, straddling the line between Lexus isolation and BMW involvement. Plus, it carries Maybach presence for a third of the cost.

Porsche Boxster
Convertible |
320 horsepower may not seem much for 60 grand, yet after a few minutes it’s clear where the money goes in the Porsche Boxster Spyder. Save maybe for the toy-car Lotus Elise, there’s not a roadster in the world with this kind of precise chassis setup.

2011
Porsche 911 Turbo S
Coupe |
You could drive a Turbo daily — it’s got the most luxury, space (hey, two back seats for the kids!), and refined powertrain of any supercar. But the rock-hard suspension can’t absorb bumps.

Audi A7
Sedan |
While dripping with speed, the A7 isn’t the world’s fastest four-door, but it’s among the prettiest. Those who spring the cash for an A7 are paying $10,000 over the A6 to have onlookers mistake it for a Maserati. Consider me thoroughly duped.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S
SUV/Truck |
Porsche sold more Cayennes in the US during August than the Boxster, Cayman, and 911 sports cars combined. After driving a 2011 Cayenne Turbo for a week, I finally see why. It’s now built like a Porsche.

2011
Subaru Impreza WRX
Sedan |
The man who buys a WRX STI knows he’s getting a street-legal race car, and all the gut-wrenching performance of a Porsche 911 for half the price. At the right moments, it’s an utterly outstanding piece.

2012
Land Rover Range Rover Evoque
SUV/Truck |
The Evoque makes a better Range Rover. It drives like a car instead of a bulldozer. It starts at $44,000, and when loaded, is still thousands less than the ridiculously popular Sport.

2010
Tesla Roadster
Convertible |
The Tesla Sport model’s heavy premium doesn’t buy a much better car, not in the way this kind of money upgrades a 911 Carrera 4S to a GT3. But the price delivers an otherworldly experience, a visceral, satisfying rejection of the traditional fossil-fueled sports car.
