The 458 Italia is incredible. In one generation, it’s managed to improve on all the things we’ve come to expect from Ferrari, and fix all of the drawbacks as well. It’s the first Ferrari we’ve ever driven that we’d truly consider using as a daily driver.

If you want a fast, stylish, comfortable cruiser for weekends in the sun and the occasional blast on an empty freeway or a canyon, the Shelby GT500 convertible is for you. If you’re planning on driving it on a track, you really want a coupe.

We walked away from our track session sweating, smiling, and amazed at just how good the 2010 Mitsubishi Evo is. But it’s track prowess and canyon carving ability, unfortunately, are overshadowed by dismal interior quality, poor fuel economy and range, and questionable styling.

Does the Audi A3 TDI make the perfect compromise between performance and economy? Unfortunately, no, because it, like all other cars, had to compromise somewhere: price. You can get a fully-loaded Golf TDI for under the price of a base A3 TDI. And since Quattro isn’t available on the A3, why wouldn’t you?

It’s hard to ignore what the 2010 Subaru Outback has become, something that car guys hate: a crossover.
